What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy, similar to traditional talk therapy, provides a safe space for expression and processing challenging thoughts, feelings, and experiences. However, the addition of a licensed art therapist broadens the opportunity to access parts of the mind and heart by giving another tool for that expression.
There is no "good" or "bad", "right" or "wrong" in art therapy. It all serves a purpose and gives the artist a voice, especially when words cannot adequately express what needs to be said for growth and healing.

What to expect in session
Art therapy provides a different way of communicating and expressing what is inside your heart and mind. While traditional art therapy tools are pencils, paper, and paint, the options are endless!
My studio art training and many years practicing art therapy provide ample experience creating art out of just about anything--spray paint, collage, digital photography, sewing, clay, recycled goods, or even office supplies! Your creativity is the only limit!
My job is to help give your thoughts and feelings a concrete form that you can see, touch, and manipulate. Taking the abstract and making it tangible puts more power and control back in your hands.

What to expect in groups
Groups utilize our social nature to aid in healing. This can be through specific themes and goals, or around families and/or members of the same community. Bringing people together, especially in a post-pandemic world, is increasingly more important, as we are increasingly more distracted, isolated, and divided. Groups and community art-making opportunities promote connection, understanding, and feeling seen.
